The seminar provides an in-depth exploration of several dimensions of European Literary and Cultural Studies. The course offers instructive guidance for your independent analysis of key historical developments from a comparative European point of view. We consolidate your methodological tool-kit for the critical reading of texts stemming from the European tradition, and we highlight major concepts and practices of cultural analysis with a focus on literature, media, and the history of science.
The class is designed for students of the Institute of Modern German Literature, and is mandatory in the curriculum of the MA European Studies.
Readings and seminar discussion will be exclusively in English.
