This English-language seminar introduces
instructional design (ID) as a field of research and practice, together with
its central theories, models, and processes. In the first part of the semester,
we work through the foundations of the instructional design process: how people
think and learn, needs analysis, task analysis, learner analysis, and the
formulation of instructional goals and objectives. In the second part,
participants select a problem that matters to them personally and carry out a
self-directed design project. Its outcome is a pitch deck in which they make
the case for the problem, set out their vision for an instructional unit that
helps others address it, and document the design work behind that unit—for use
in school or in out-of-school educational offerings for children or adults.
