Ort und Zeit werden rechtzeitig bekannt gegeben.
The seminar concerns current constitutional developments within the European Union and the member States. Particular attention will be paid to the European Fundamental Rights Charter and its relation to the European Convention of Human Rights as well as to the implementation of the Charter in the national legal orders.
The seminar is a compact seminar; this means that it will not take place every week but on specific days. The seminar days, the place and time of the meetings will be made known by e-mail to the seminar participants. These seminar days will be in the second half of the semester. In the meantime the participants shall work on their seminar papers (see below).They shall send a preliminary abstract of their papers to Prof. Arnold about 3 weeks after they have agreed with him on the subject.
The main task will be to write a seminar paper of about 25 pages with footnotesand bibliography. The subject of the paper as well as the time available for the elaboration of the paper will be agreed with Prof Arnold by e-mail (rainer.arnold@ur.de).The research theses of this paper shall be discussed in the seminar session.
12 ECTS can be given for elaborating and discussing the seminar paper.
It is required that the participant has already studied constitutional law in the home country. Knowledge in EU law is desirable.
Registration in GRIPS is required until end October. Please inform Prof. Arnold by email even before this date about your intention to participate. Besides that, please register in GRIPS as soon as possible, at latest until end October. Please inform him about the home university, year of study, and whether you have already studied constitutional law, EU law/international law.
The number of participants is limited to 12 students.
