Abstract: This short course will run over 3 days. It will include: Lectures, workshops and presentations of reflections. In this way students will be presented with international understandings (lecture), explore these through activities (workshop) and then reflect amongst the group in an online forum so that deeper engagement with these new ideas occurs. The course unpacks the effective use of digital technologies to include:1. Day 1: Why: International context for schooling and learning online- in classrooms and online relationship. Why there is a move internationally to the use of digital technologies and pedagogies to support flexible learning modes such as ‘at home’; ‘hybrid’; ‘hyflex’; ‘blended’ and why this is important in the schooling context.2. Day 2: What is the design for teaching online - two design models used- Digital teaching principles and student online engagement model. These are two theoretical models are presented that can guide your design of the effective use of digital technologies in planning flexible learning in the classroom.3. Day 3: How you teach online in blended, Hyflex and Hybrid models with examples provided to examine the role of online within a classroom based context. In this session you will learn how to design within disciple domains- Language, History, Mathematics, Geography lessons are provided as examples.25 instructional videos have been made that will be used in these workshops.Assessment- Choose 2 different digital technologies and integrate into a short learning experience for the classroom context. In this assessment you will demonstrate how to integrate digital social tools that will support student online engagement across a learning sequence of your choice. A student Task sheet and a 500 word rationale is required. You will construct a task sheet that could be given to a class of students to follow. The task sheet has a list of activities that explains what students have to do across the time period. It will ensure that students engage with each other in the classroom and online together. The rational (500 words) provides the reason why the activities are designed in this way supported by the theoretical models.
