This seminar provides an overview of key concepts and principles of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). Among these concepts and principles are aspects such as theories of (second) language acquisition, communicative competences, the potential and methodology of using texts such as picture books, young adult novels, films and digital media in English language teaching (ELT) and developing cultural competences. Additionally, current debates on global education, education for sustainable development and approaches to assessment and evaluation will be reflected.

Compulsory and additional reading material as well as a topic overview and schedule will be announced in the first session.
Credit requirements: Regular attendance, final exam (date, time, room tba).
